One would think that the invention of the internet and dating apps has made dating easier, but that is not the case. According to a 2019 research by Pew, nearly half (47% percent) of all Americans say dating has gotten harder than it was 10 years ago. Among the daters, nearly two-thirds (67% percent) of the people who are single and looking for a date or relationship say their dating life is not going too well. Among the many reasons why dating has gotten harder, the research found that finding someone who’s looking for the same type of relationship; finding it hard to approach people; and finding someone who meets their expectations are the top reasons cited by people looking for a relationship or date. Besides that, fear of physical harm and being scammed are also among the reasons cited by people as to why dating has gotten harder. On that same theme, we did a little survey on our own Facebook page and asked people to “Tell Us Why They Are Single.” The answers, though they don’t fully align with the Pew research, are nevertheless interesting. We’ve listed some of the top answers below.
